This painting is done on paper using soft colors. The master shows us an almost empty table in the foreground and a figure in the background. Dynamic movement is missing, as if the seconds are frozen. The position of the picture is interesting, the impression is as if the painter has personally re-created his own photo on paper, giving the observer the opportunity to be present in this scene. At first glance, the viewer notices the empty plate and the glass full of juice, thereby making it clear that the person depicted in the picture has a lot to do, but due to the human scourge called war, it is left unfinished. The Master presents us with all the pain of war, from a personal and a public point of view. From a personal point of view, loneliness, pain, emptiness, and from a state point of view - bankruptcy, financial deterioration, crisis. Regarding the figure, the master does not give us the opportunity to understand whether it is a woman or a man, as if the painter wants to show that pain is common to everyone. The person is quiet in their thoughts and scorns the observer, not wanting to look the other way. There is no sorrow, pain, nothing. this is what gives the feeling of emptiness from the dulled pain after the war.
