About

Ann is a visual artist living in Yerevan, working with different techniqes. She received her BA (Visual Arts) from State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia 2020.in 2022 Master degree.

My artistic process begins with visual imagery that manifests in my mind. I then bring these

images to life through the utilization of various techniques, such as creating sketches using
multiple materials like pastels, oil, pens, and digital collages. With these images I make different
series of works. In order to enhance the completeness of my compositions, I embark on a study
of the chosen theme and examining the works of renowned artists who have previously
explored the same subject matter or have achieved a similar composition. The inspiration for
my artwork titled "Picnic" is a series of works known as "Breakfast on the Grass." In this painting
I delve into the exploration of human identity within the realms of the material and spiritual
worlds, focusing on the dialogue between the body and soul. The conflict that unfolded in
my homeland in the year 2020 served as a catalyst for creating a series of works that shed
light on the dark aspects that war can bring. In the painting titled "Utopia," a bright and ideal
world that was once envisioned for the future is now lost and separated by black lines.
The foreground of the painting is dominated by black crows, symbolizing the current state.
War, global lockdown situation, anxiety and disturbance of the peace by these circumstances,
my mind recalls past experiences that happened with me few years ago (sleep paralysis,
panic attack). l start series of works by observing mental disorders, sleep phases, and
the connection and transition between the subconscious and conscious states. I delve into
the appearance of dreams, the state of being in sleep, half-awake, and fully awake, as well as
the exploration of life and death. To gain further insight, I have studied the works of Freud
and Jung. Following this intense series, I sought to find solace and initiate a healing process.
I discovered my peace in the natural beauty of my homeland, Armenia. I traveled through my
country and created several landscape paintings. I compile this series with compositions which
are imbued with the essence of nature and prominent presence of a woman. My art is a
manifestation of the interplay between consciousness and subconsciousness, a symbiotic
relationship that brings to life the imagery of the mind.
